Hi,

My friend and I are traveling to Sardinia for 7 days from the 30th Sep till 07th Oct this year. We want to know the best spots for shallow water spearfishing (about 5-7 meters). If anyone also wants to fish with us, would be great.

I will be flying to Alghero, staying in Santa Teresa Gallura. But I could change my location if needed

Our combined equipment:

1 Omer Cayman HF, 90cm
1 Beuchat Marlin 75cm
2 Esclapez Labrax wetsuits 5 mm
2 pairs Omer Millenium fins
2.5 mm and 3mm gloves
3mm and 5mm socks
Buoy with flag

I also want to know if there are any spearfishing stores, we are evaluating the possibilities to leave our weights and buy them in there if we have to pay overweigh in our luggage

Thanks!
Juan

Hi Juan,
i have been to Santa Teresa a couple of times and i expect you will have some good diving there. there is a spearo/dive shop which will likely have weights, as you enter from the North coast its the first turning on the right and about 200m up on the left on the road to capo testa. otherwise there will be lots of dive shops around if the season is still open.
the beach just south west of capo testa i think is Reno Majore and apparently has fish by the little island. I havent tried myself! I think less than 20m will be likely only small fish?
I would recommend checking out isolla rossa because it is beautiful, and also Costa Paradiso if it is not too busy - its a stunning place. I have only been with a camera and my impression is that the bigger fish are mainly deeper than 20m, however the marine life is amazing.

Have a search on the forum and i expect you will see some posts by the local Sardegna spearos - i cant remember who at the moment.

good luck :)

Hi Juan, Did you have any joy spearing on your trip. It would be good to have an idea of what, where to go etc. am thinking of a trip..?

hi Juan,
check this site, Itinerari | Il sito per gli appassionati di pescasub e apnea | pesca sub, video, apnea, agonismo, eventi, attrezzature, interviste, racconti there is an interactive map that works trough Google Earth that shows you all interesting spots (depth, species, and difficulties) in Sardinia and the protected areas where sperafish is not allowed!, be carefull in the north as there are few protected areas! the only problem is the web page is in Italian, but I guess you can work out how to set up the map, otherwise let me know and I can help you. I will be in Sardinia in September but I will be located on the South west, probably I might go to the north for a few days,
Cheers
Marco

Hi Marco, thanks for linking this map! what an amazing resource with loads of useful info.

I've read all the posts on Sardinia/Sardegna that i can find, and am hoping to come into contact with someone living there who might be going out in the next few weeks. I'm going to be in Sardinia this September 15th - 29th just exploring the island with my gf and have read through a ton of posts/sites talking up Sardinia as a great location. I'm fairly new to the sport (and the forum here) but i'm really just hoping to meet some people who would like to help out a new guy to get better. Currently, i'm traveling the world for 9 months and I'm traveling pretty light, so for me to get out into the water i'm really hoping to find some nice people who want their gear carried to the beach/boat
icon_smile.gif.pagespeed.ce.1KldAuDuny.gif
in exchange for offering some technique and strategy to a beginner. I've actually hunted 4 times and did ok each time, but i'm looking to get further into the sport. Hope to hear from someone out there!

PS. If anyone might not be available, but know of a local guide or anything or even a place to rent gear, i think it would get me started in the right direction.

Rob
