Can anyone advise on spear fishing after SCUBA diving?

I am planning on squeezing in an advanced divers SCUBA course in a gr8 spear fishing spot and post the 2 or 3 SCUBA dives a day would like to still spearfish if possible.

Is the best of both worlds possible here? Are there any major risks.

Any advice/pointers would be appreciated.

Wait at least 12 hours before spearfishing after scuba, more if you can :)

listen to the diva mate dont risk the bends for some fish.... alternatively, you could plan to go into the water for spearing really early (dawn), before the advanced, you may increase ypur spearfishing chances, the downside of course is that you will be a it tired (possibly cold too), by the time you start the course

Thank you for the advice, i appreciate it and will take heed, though of maybe slipping an early morning dive in but will see. Cant have cake and eat it always :)

You need to have gassed-off all of the residual nitrogen before freediving. Use the NDL scuba tables (you better not be in a decompression mode!!!!!:naughty) or your dive computer to see how long you have to wait. Certainly 12 hours will do it, but you may not have to wait that long.
