Spearfishing BC's Westcoast

Hi,

After having entered the world of free diving about a year ago, the discipline of spearfishing intrigues me more and more and I would like to learn about the sport, local opportunities to spearfish and, most importantly, get in touch with the active community in Vancouver.

I confidently dive to depths of about 20m in local waters, own a Mako pole spear and would love to go out with an experienced group/buddy to try to make my first catch.

Your help is most appreciated.

No replies??? Oh god. That worries me. I've just got my visa for Canada and probably heading for Vancouver. I hope there are spearos over there! I'll look u up but not sure how long it will be before I get there!!

It might have to do with the distance one has to travel form Vancouver to get to spearfishing territory.

Hi David.
I am out of Squamish, thinking about a boat dive this weekend.
Not sure about the vis right now, there has been alot of runoff and the Fraser river can mud up the straight pritty good.
Could try some spots for lingcod but will have to share on fuel costs for the boat,
