Having to travel South for a competition
Hi Quick intro here my name is Mark and I've been diving in one form or another for 40 years. I am looking for fellow divers to organise some spearfishing competitions or just some hunting dives in 2020 starting around April when hopefully the sea off the East coast calms down and the viz improves. Flamborough Head, to Staithes etc. Anyone interested please comment. Seems that most spearfishing is in the South Devon Cornwall etc might be wrong. Freediving only with speargun but can do some scuba dives if interested with camera (no spearguns).

Cheers mark

Just to add to what @foxfish said - you can also search the forums directly but using the search function in the menu.

Hi Marko, l once planned to explore the Yorkshire coast for spearing potential but I no longer visit regularly, the folk I visited now live nearby. I'm not sure if the visibility would be good enough but perhaps it is sometimes? Try it and see.

As well as the places you mention, I would add all of the south coast of England, Wales (Pembroke, Gower, possibly Ogmore?, N. Wales coast, Anglesey, has anybody tried Penarth or Barry, near Cardiff?), Isle of Wight?, North and west Cornwall And north Devon. If going to Gower or elsewhere around the Bristol Channel beware the fearsome Bristol Channel tides, 2nd largest tidal range in the world. I also wonder if there might be potential on the East coast e.g. Kent, Essex, Suffolk, Norfolk.

Further afield, Ireland. We've had forum members who live in and fish around Ireland. The West coast and south west look particularly promising on a map.
