Spearfishing Gold Coast

Hi there ,could anyone help me with spearfishing clubs on the gold coast.Ive just moved here from melbourne and need some good advice on quility gear and dives sites ect..
Is a sea hornet magnum ok for a first gun or should i spend the $ and get something like a rob allen spearid?

Are you talking about the surfer city of Melbourne, Florida which is two hours north of the Florida gold coast (Fort Lauderdale down to Miami), or are you talking about the Aussie Melbourne and gold coast?
