Hello spearfishers,

I spent one month in Croazia. It's a good place to go for freediving and spearfishing.

Here you can find some tips for a good vacation over there.

ACCOMODATION

You can rent a room or a flat quite easily without the help of a travel agency. In this way you save 40% - 50% of the costs.

SPEARFISHING

Bouy or float with the red flag with a diagonal white stripe is compulsory.

You need a fishing licence for spearfishing. Pay attention, the police often checks fishermen.

You can buy the fishing licence. For prices check the following websites:

Dubrovnik Online - fishing in Dubrovnik Region, spearfishing, licenses, big game fishing trips

http://www.infoadriatic.com/did you know 06.shtml

For whom speaks Italian:

Blufishing.com - sportfishing entertainment & fishing charter > Home

Hrvatski savez za ¹portski ribolov na moru (you have tel./fax of some Croatian national sport fishing associations that you can join for buying the fishing licence).

Here other info:

The permissions for current year (annual permissions) are given only to Croatian or foreign citizens with permanent residence. The daily permissions are given separately for fishing with angling and fishing tackle and separately for fishing with spear-fishing gun. The charges for daily fishing permissions with angling and fishing tackle are: 60HRK for one, 150HRK for three, 300HRK for seven and 700HRK for thirty days. The price lists of annual permissions are: 30HRK for children under 18, 60HRK for retirees and people older than 60 years and 400HRK for people from 18 to 60. The charges for spear-fishing are the same as for angling and fishing tackle. Spear-fishing gun can be used from dawn until sunset. It is strictly prohibited to use equipment which forces a person to stay in sea or under water against his or her will. It is prohibited to use artificial light. All the news and information regarding game fishing in Sibenik-Knin County can be received in harbour master's office, Tourist Boards and agencies.

Dear Mike,
you need a spearfishing licence.

Give a look to: Spearfishing in Croatia (Part 1)

Overthere you could find a link with the offices where you can buy that licence.

Hey Mike.

Go to the first post of this thread. Click on the last link. Then click on: Permesi per la pesca.

There you find the list of the offices where you can buy a spearfishing licence.

Pay attention: you cannot buy it everywhere.

Usually, in the office you can find someone who speaks English.

Good luck!!!

All the best,

KK

Yes, most of them have a spearfishing section.

In Split, Hvar and Komiza, for sure.
