HI,

I am new to Dubai and would like to know about spearfishing here - Is it legal, where can I get some decent equipment etc.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Hmmm, post this in the UAE section.

Welcome to the United Arab Emirates, and to deeperblue. Al samak in Bilremaitha club have gear, and should set you up. If you are an experienced spearo, I can help you look for some of the more specific gear + guns, but Al samak have a great selection, and should be able to hook you up with everything you need.

As for diving in Dubai, Im not too knowledgeble on shore dives, and would avoid them down to the construction, the basic spots that I know are wrecks, but Ive heard that there are FADS that I hope to God someone will let me dive with em there,.,

Have fun,.,. and feel free to PM me.

Oh and post in the UAE section for more exposure.

Regards,

Ali

Definitely not in Abu Dhabi if ever you come by. In UAE shore dive spearing, the word is dont get caught!!!! But if you have a boat, 2 kms or 2 miles away from shore or any man-made structure is legal according to other threads. Use the search functions for topics and info. Gulf Marine Sports has some decent equipment like Riffe,Beuchat and Picasso. Tomorrow is the last day of the Boat Show in Abu Dhabi, try to come and see the diving and spearing gears on display.

Hello there

Welcome to UAE mate... Spearfishing as mentioned very strict in Abu Dahbi. In Dubai you can do it but without Scuba gear (Note: To spear with scuba in dubai there is a way to know more about it pm me). In sharja Ajman and east cost just do it however you want and have fun but do not shoot people.

for gear depends on what brands you want
there are bunch of shops for that... Al samak has riffe and omar brands in addition to Imersion etc... and really its the best and with the biggest variety of gears there but more expensive than other (Note: he is the dealer for riffe and omar you will not find them anywhere else)... There is al boom gear shop in jumeirah... There is gulf mall for anything about the sea you can buy boat even they are dealer for Beauchat brand they are located in al Qoz... there is baracuda shop in deira they have australian spearguns... If you need cressi brand there are two shops in Sharja one before CIty Center Sharja and another Opposite to one mosque near to radissonsas hotel (They guy giving chiepest prices)... There is emirates technical center near by this shop and they are dealer for Mares brand in the same area you will find Alghawas shop he has different brands including nice wooden guns (Brands i am not sure about them)...

Wish you all best in your trips...
