As a newbie in that forum, I would be interested to find other spearfishers living not far from Ottawa.
I have been able to try it for the first time in a lake ("lac du poisson blanc"in Québec) during Labor Day's weekend (and got two black basses at approx. 4 pounds) and found the water not to dirty as I would have imagined at 6-8 meters deep. I would be interested to see if there are other spots in Northern Ontario (I understand that, since it is more rocky, the water can be much clearer) or in Western Quebec.
Thanks!
JY

Were the bass delicious? We don't get to spear anything worth eating where I live.

Yes, they were! And thanks for the tips :)

I just left Ontario and moved to Alaska in the spring. As a heads up it is illegal to possess a speargun within 50m of a body of water in Ontario. I would closely check the regulations for this year, but it was illegal to spearfish anywhere in Ontario last year.

Thanks, that's what I thought... Too bad, I'll have to continue to go to Quebec then :)
