spearfishing koh tao / koh samui (thailand)

Thread Status: Hello , There was no answer in this thread for more than 90 days.
It can take a long time to get an up-to-date response or contact with relevant users.

hi,

i will be the whole MARCH 2013 on koh tao near koh samui and i am looking for spearfishing and freediving.

perhaps some locals could take me out or another spearo would share a boat for a trip with me?

perhaps anyone has a good idea for koh tao? (contact, trip-agency, nice restaurant ...)

i would be very happy for every hint!

Hello!
Spearfishing is not officially legal in Koh Tao, meaning Thai residents do not like to see you spearfishing there. Although... Some of my friends have been living and fishing there for few years already, they know where to go without bothering anyone.
I recommend you stop at Apnea Total, the most popular freediving school on the island and you may meet some buddies to show you around. Anyway, as you know, never freedive alone ;)

I guess I will be there around mid of February to begin of March too. But I have no fixed schedule yet. See my other thread for some more details. I have not speared yet, but I would like to try it.

I haven't been to Koh Tao yet but I heard that recently spearfishing was "forbidden" on the island and signs where placed on the beaches. On the other hand there are some travel agents that offer big game fishing.

hi freind am a freediver andspearfisher too ill br in koh tao on the 12 of march 2013 am yaking some courses in blue immerson am taking my speargun with i got my ticket and everything this is my email contact me on fb so we can talk and share dives in koh tao:) nice to meet u
