Hey Guys,

Was wondering could any of ye recomend me a good location on the west coast of Norway for spearfishing (from the shore) and drinking. I'm thinkin of going over during ugust for a week with some friends from collage. I need somewere cheap to stay somting like a cabin and of course a pub or off license in close proximity. I have looked up a few places on the net already but I have been bambozeled with hundered of differnt cabins and places to stay. There seems to be a lot of tourisim centred around the many fjords in Norway, but I was wondering if these would be to deep to spearfish in.
Any comments of suggestions would be greatly apreciated.

Cheers

I am moving to vestern Norway in 2 weeks. And have been diving and spearfishing there the last 10 years.

The biggest city is "Bergen" and a good place near it is called "Fosen straumen" is a narrow passage with dephts of 0-30 metres

I live on a small Island just south of Bergen called "Reksteren". The fjords are deep, up to 500m just 5 min from me. But there are lots of shallow areas around small islands. Visability is normaly poor in June/july it can range from 15-20m down to 1m. Out towards the open sea it tends to be better.

Around August it should be clearing up nicely. Mind the jellyfish they tend to gather in large numbers in the late summer

Hi, Spearos!
I would like to ask about visibility (and fish) around Bergen or Oslo ( as I know visibility is poor (?)) in winter months. I have been in Norway only in summer, but it seems that in
Xmas I will be in Oslo... so I thought maybe it is worth to take some spearfishing equipment with me for a holidays.
