Spearfishing Posibilities in Tenerife

Hi,
I just came back from Tenerife. We went out for a day of Spearfishing, going around the southern coast (from Las Galletas to La Caleta) by boat where spearfishing is allowed. It looked almost like a desert under the water. No fish except very small stuff at around 20m. I am planning to go back to Tenerife quite often for other reasons and wondering if anyone knows any better perhaps on the other sides of the Island or I just forget about Spearfishing while I am there?

well.. this doesnt sound good .. i wanted to start with spearfishing here in tenerife soon. Round about the same area where you went to. Up until now I only did scuba diving here. And while scuba diving (5-15m mostly) there were lots of fish. Like big parrotfish, barracua schools (...) Sometimes some angelsharks, but they are just sleeping in the sand. Maybe you were just unlucky this day?
2 Days ago i have seen a guy coming out of San Miguel Marina with 5 Barracudas and a Speargun. So there must be fish around here.

I will probably go spearfishing somewhere in Novembre or Decembre, lates January somewhere around there.
I will let you know what it was like egarding the fish. Please also write about your expierence here once you were spearing again
