So heres another question for you guys...
When working the patch reefs in Miami/Keys - spearfishing (without tanks) and targeting your typical bottom fish (Mango's, Grouper's, Mutton's), what are the different types of approach you use?
As for me, it goes a little something like this...
I usually start by locating a fishy looking area, then make my descend straight down to the bottom (in the least threatening manner), hold ground laying on my stomach & then basically wait until the fish come and inspect me (Hopefully by then my air hasnt totally run out and I am able to take a shot). Do you guys feel this is an effective method or should I be trying something else..? (any and all advise is always welcomed).
My second method is the simple game of PEEK A BOO. And thats basically me diving down and inspecting holes, caves, ledges, or any other area where it seems a fish could be hiding to ambush another fish. Of course on every descend I try to move as slow and as least threatening as possible.
So what else is there..?
I never chum up the water which is something I would like to start doing, just havent actually done it yet (any thoughts on that?).
I have also tried just drifting along over the patches (not anchoring the boat) to cover more ground. (thoughts on that? pro's, con's?)
Like always, thanks in advance...
