Hello to everyone! my name is cristos and i am from greece. I like spearfishing and Free Diving. My depth is 25 meters max and my best statit 5:55. Anyways, i have a question. What is the difference for spearfishing training from freediving training?
Heelo to everyone again !

I'm sorry for my english if its not good.

Hello Shristos and welcome on DB... From my little knowledge what i know is that Freediving is a tool you can use while spearfishing (It is a part of spearfishing)... When you dive down to shoot a fish this is a freediving... Spearfishing itself is like to be like a fisherman i.e. you have to know currents tides habits of fish all related to catch a fish etc...

Freediving training is concentrated only on holding breath diving and its techniques but has nothing to do with fishing while training...

All best

Salehthefish thanks. If I understand making only spearfishing not gaining depth
So you should spend some day workout purely free diving near the maximum depth!
This will increase over time the spearfishing depth and time of apnea.

Not like this actually I keep spearfshing as a way to improve my Freediving ability since its a part of spearfshing but when u do pure freediving u r concentrating on technique and safety of Freediving once u master it then u will use it by nature while spearfshing...

Hope it is clear now...

Thank you very much. You're clear!

Just wondering... If the spearfishing needs many iterative dives while free diving needs a maximum dive maybe it will need diferent coaching tactics.
For examble if you fishing 5-20m max! hardly your depth will reach 28-32m by staying in your safe depth.
For example KNOW guys who were fishing years at the same depths while others are taking steps very quickly in relation to their experience!

My goal is to succeed with relative security to fish at the depth 20-28m for three to four consecutive hours. So the question is how to achieve this goal?

Great depth automatically gives you the ability to dive comfortably in smaller depths?

This happens because of adaptation of the body at great depths?

The dry Training what role plays?

Thanks again!!

Well my friend i do not mind answering your questions but i think if you join any freediving course you will answer your questions in a better and safe way...

Free diving is personal thing that's why you will find someone who will reach great depth while another will keep at one depth many factors are the reason.

Of course if you get used to 28 depth 15 depth will be much easier for you (Relaxation wise)

Dry training is a way to increase your static breath hold like to progress from 4 minutes to 8 minutes (Depends on each person ability) i do also dynamics breath hold by walking which helps great but you have to do on grass and with buddy in case you black out...

I hope some doubts are answered but as i mentioned the right way to start take freediving course

All best
