I'll move to BC in 3 months. I am looking for a buddy to practice spearfishing (no scuba divers please). In addition, I would like to know if there is any regulation or licence that I need to be aware. Please any information will be appreciated. :(

Hi Erik,

I check the web that you posted before. I found this.
http://www-comm.pac.dfo-mpo.gc.ca/pages/sfg/tables/fintable_e.htm

With the fish limits an all that. The system sucks. If that is the case I can burn my licence in max. 3-4 days. Beside that, before shot I need to see if the fish has the weight, length, and all the characteristics. And even that I could be fine. Then...........freediving??????

I will try to contact JMD. May be he has a better idea of the area and regulations.
Thanks

Sargo,

I sent an email in reply to your queries.

Kellya and I both live on Vancouver Island. Amphibious is on the mainland (although nowhere near Vancouver) so you might be able to get more info from him.

Taking the Yak out tommorrow in search of Greenies, How do I get away with that on mothers day you ask? Loving wife who has excellent priorities :) ...

Sargo, there is no annual limit on Lingcod, Halibut and Rockfish, which are pretty good eating! I had a spearo friend out there a few years back: he was always eating fresh BBQ'd fish.
Cheers,
Erik Y.
