Hi deeper blue people!

I run a small, simple resort in the andaman islands of india. We just opened last year. I am an avid scuba diver and always wanted to try freediving and spearfishing. Last month, we had a small group from ukraine. I had no idea that two of them were spearos. I was invited by one of them to try spearfishing. I was so very keen but totally useless as it was the first time for me. I am really hooked but need to learn. If anyone is interested in spearfishing in the andaman islands (india), i would be glad to furnish you with more info. The rainy season there is from end of may to oct.

Welcome to db, what sort & size of fish will you be hunting?

Hi,

I am not a trained spearfisherman yet and hope to have the company of some at my place in the Andaman islands. As i mentioned in my thread, my Ukrainian guest regularly came back with 5 to 10 kilo GTs, groupers, sweetlips, parrotfish and lobsters amongst others. There is one photo of him with 2 of the fishes he had bagged while he was there. It is in my website anugama resort andaman islands
I have also attached 2 photos here, and hope you can see them.

cheers

g-day mate, boy do i want to come spearfishing in andaman. the fishing charter people sent me a police flyer saying spearfishing is illegal in andaman. Do you have a boat? can i land in port blair carrying my gear? I'm up against the wall on this. and you have not seen anything yet mate. blue water hunting will change your life once you have landed your first big pelagic. my e-mail is metryon@bigpond.net.au

Have also heard from multiple sources that spearfishing on The Andaman Islands is now banned.
