Hey Jamie that paint dont look to bad!
Is that some type of boat mooring rope you have as running line?

On which gun mate?
If the asso its just what came with it when i bought it...When i get some cash im gonna fill the reel up with either mono or dyneema(not sure which one yet)

Some people are using dynema & like it a lot, I prefer to use 1.5mm clear mono & change it regularly.
I also fit a swivel clip so you can push the spear through the fish if you cant get if off the barbs.

Yes that is right, with some fish it is very difficult to draw the spear back through the flesh & bone. This way you have the option to pass the spear through the entry hole & pull the disconnected clip through without any drama or further damage to the edible flesh

Here is another example

I would personally stay away form mono on your reel. Dyneema and other braided lines hold up way better to rubbing on the rocks or coral. Ive had my dyneema wrapped up on the reef numerous times and its still in great condition. I use mono as my shooting line because its cheap and easy enough to change but it gets nicked real easy. I probably change my shooting line every 5 dives or so. I have never had to change my line on my reel (had it close to two years now).

I think that with mono on your reel, if you were to get a nick in the line say 20 or 30 feet into the spool than you would have to cut it wasting alot of line. Just my thoughts though. maybe some will disagree with me.
