Speargun barrel full of water

When I got out of the water the other day I could hear my Rob Allen Sparid was full of water, sloshing through when I turned it upside down. It's still full days after.

Is that normal?
I don't remember it being filled previously, or any of my previous guns being full of water (or not draining soon after exiting the water). I would assume it's better for it to be empty and dry when in storage.

you are right its very easy to take apart, empty it Al does not rust but it oxydises and weakens the tube

There have been a couple of people around my area with similar problems. Myself included. I removed the handle and the muzzle, drained the water out and sprayed wd40 down the barrel. Then I resealed the barrel using rubber Demi John bungs (after removing the old plastic bungs) or using aqua sure glue and applying a liberal coating over the existing bungs. The guns sealed this way haven't leaked since
