My "Big Gun" that I have been using the last four years is a custom gun, consisting of a 64" teak shaft and reel attached to a Beuchat Mundial Handle. In examining my gear at the beginning of the season, I realized it was time to replace my Speargun handle/grip. The salt water had simply finally won the battle on the firing mechanism and safety.

After receiving the new handle, I realized that it needs to be modified in order to fit the shaft. Basically, about one inch of the handle was cut off in order to fit the the smaller male end of the custom gun.

Does anyone have any recommendations of a type of saw to use when cutting the last one inch of the Beuchat Mundial Handle Off so that it will fit the gun? I can see where the maker of the gun cut the previous handle, but I have no clue whether a certain blade or saw would work best.

Thanks for the help.

I could help but I would need to see some pictures....

Thanks for the help! Above are two pictures of the shaft with two handles next to it. You can see where the old one had the very tip cut off in order to fit.

I don't want to use just any saw and not make a clean cut. I just want to make sure I've got the right tools before I start whacking away at it.

Sorry for the upload problems, FoxFish. I can see the pics fine on my screen, so it must be some sort of public access error to the pics hosted web location.

In case anyone else runs into this problem, I wanted to post up my results to complete the post....

I went to Home Depot yesterday to ask them. They recommended a $10 very fine grade hand saw. I made very short strokes, starting at the top of the speargun handle, slowly working my way through the grip. It was actually way easier than I ever thought. The saw cut right through the handle without having to push down very hard at all. Took me all of 5 minutes and left the edge extremely smooth!

It fit the gun perfectly, and I had it all hooked up 10 minutes later. Very stoked about shooting some fish!
