Hi everybody. Can somebody advise the begginer of what lenth should i buy a bandpowered speargun to hund in the Mediterranian, SE Asia, Canary islands? I would prefer something compact, is there a point to buy 60 cm bandpowered speargun?

What kind of visibility do you expect? Visibility is probably the most important factor when selecting a gun size. Next consideration is probably the size range of your target fish and also if you will be hunting under ledges or in more open areas.
Foxfish and Mako are both right. In Southern California I can't imagine using anything under 100 cm, but 120 or 130 is probably better for anyone but a beginner. But the main consideration is the size of fish you want to shoot. Even if the visibility is poor, I need a pretty big gun to drive a shaft through as fish like the one in my avatar.
The good news is that you don't have to commit for just one gun for the rest of your life. Start with a relatively small gun, and then buy a bigger one as your experience dictates.

Thanks, appreciate. Actually I am concerned about the size of my lugage. I travel alot and would like to pick a spear gun with me. I also wander what is going to hapen if i use shorter spear than manufacturer of a speargun suggests. e.g. if original spear supposed to be 115 cm but i use 105 cm. will it spoil my short?

To be effective at belting the shaft through a fish your gun needs to be relative to the job. A 100 cm gun is the minimum for clearer water(5m +) But my you all you ever need. I use a RA 11o most of the time because its a balanced and effective gun if I can get the target 4m of the spear tip. The Vis where I dive is often 20m but I'm not shooting the Giant Trevally and Kingfish because I don't eat them so a smaller gun with a 7mm spear suits the job it needs to do. For 2-10 kilo fish a smaller gun is fine and way more pleasant to push around. The Riffe Travel series may be your best option for length.
Its common to use shafts shorter than the one furnished by the manufacturer. Tastes in shaft overhang vary widely. I know guys who have the barb barely off of the muzzle, and others with 18 inches of overhang.
