hey guys,
just wondering if you guys have any advice for the best conditions to keep your spear gun in. ive used mine a couple of times and rinsed it off with fresh water however i got back this weekend and theirs signs of oxidisation. Is their anyway i can prevent this?
Also ive used a bowline knot to tie my spear to the line, is this the best way to rig it as i feel it may be a bit chunky and it could be catching on its release and effecting velocity and accuracy.
your thoughts would be appreciated. :)

A friend of mine used to use a tiny bit of vegetable oil on a cloth and rub the spear with it to prevent it from corroding. He used vegetable oil as it didn't taint the fish, whereas spray oils such as wd40 may get absorbed into the flesh. Once a year I strip down my guns an re-grease the trigger mechanisms and remove all sand and grit.

If you are worried about the line catching it may be worth changing to monofilament and using crimps to attach together.

Hope this helps

Matt
