Hey i was wondering if anyone had had any experience with the little 40cm pneumatic spearguns that holster on your leg? they look like a cool idea, if i have my 110 speargun with me then see something in a cave or a camouflaged fish i can just wip it out rather than risking imbedding and $80 spearshft into a rock :) but i was a bit worried about the holster, does it cover the trigger and block the spear or is there a chance it could shoot me in the foot? also do they have any power behind them? any input would be very much apperciated. specifically im looking at an asso 40.

I read that small pneumatics are the most dangerous of all spear guns.

I know that some quite well know Italian spearo shot himself in the gut with one a couple of years back and nearly died. Best avoided in my opinion ;)

The guns are carried unloaded in the holsters, the spears being clipped alongside the gun. I have had two "Miniministen" guns, one replaced the other when it wore out after around twenty years. They are the easiest pneumatic guns to load, being so short. I included some photos of them on another thread which should show up on a search, may have been on Spearboard.

In fact here it is: http://www.spearboard.com/showthread.php?t=140970&highlight=Miniministen&page=2

hey thanks for the replies guys, im not ttoo worried about safety to be honest, not that i disreguard its importance i just know that the chances of me shooting myself or someone else are way smaller than me being hit by a bus. are the mini pneumatics powerful at all? and i dont get it, if you dont have them loaded in the holster, whats the point of it? can you load it underwater?

The guns will shoot around 6 feet, but that is about it. Really for close up shots and in constricted areas where the short length is very handy, or in poor viz where you will be lucky to see anything anyway. The holster is to carry it and leave your hands free, basically they are spare guns, not main hunting guns except in very shallow water. Most owners never use the holster as it will not stay put on your leg using the leg straps, but it will if you modify it to go on a belt.
