Hello there underwater hunters.
I am not sure if someone has already raised the subject here before but I would like you guys to share some of your technical knowledge with me as I intend to make my own shafts I found out that AISI 316L stainless steel is a good option in terms of corrosion resistance it appears that a specific type of heat treatment is required to allow the arrow to have a certain elasticity and bend back after damage.
So if anyone has any valuable information about this please share with me :)
Thanks and greetings from the Mediterranean Sea!!

316 is not really a good option as it can’t be heat treated easily (or at all?) and is fairly ductile.

The standard in good stainless shafts is 17-4ph heat treated to the H900 process which in terms of heat treatments is actually a fairly simple one. But of course you’d need a large enough furnace/oven and a temp controller that can be programmed with ramps/holds/soak but those things can be had fairly cheaply out of China now.
