Spearhunter TV Program

Thread Status: Hello , There was no answer in this thread for more than 60 days.
It can take a long time to get an up-to-date response or contact with relevant users.
The Outdoor Life Network (OLN) has actually changed its name to VS (versus). I used to have it with Comcast, but it is an extra option in the Dish, same as the Outdoor Channel. Instead, the Dish includes in its regular roster The Water Channel, which shows all sort of acuatic activities starting at 3 pm everyday: surfboarding, sailing, PWC racing, boat racing, a large number of rod and reel fishing programs, and Divers Down, a scuba diving program. As far as I know the Spearhunter Program will be shown every monday until March 26. It is shown three times each monday: at 6:30 pm, 11:00 pm, and then 2:00 am. Tonight I missed the 6:30 pm show, so I am watching it at 11:00.

Well, the third episode was very good too. One brief shark encounter added some interest, and a barracuda feeding sequence was included as an obvious attempt at creating some excitement for the general public. That's OK, since the program needs as many viewers as possible. In general it was clean high quality freediving-spearhunting. Chad and Shari both shot good size cobias, and Chad also got a nice kingfish. Perhaps the only downer was that most of the shots were not captured in the video.

I've been diving on that tower and 3 others in the SW Gulf. They are all teaming with life. I shot a big mangrove snapper buzzing the tower while I was making a one-legged surface dive... and my fin had not yet submerged.

Rig divers have joked about these little towers, calling them just poles! (Up their way they call them lemon trees.) Anyway, they are the best vertical structure we have down in Florida.

I interviewed both Dr. Maas and Robin Berg at length discussing what it takes to film each episode and what equipment they use and why. The article and footage Terry lent to UWDV can be read and watched at UWDV.COM

Now to take up Terry's offer to go freediving and shoot video with him..

"As a result of the success of their first season, this entire approach has worked well enough to earn “Speargun Hunter” a second season. Robin Berg, Dr. Terry Maas, and the rest of the team will be using the same basic work flow for season two when they head into the coastal waters off Australia, Portugal, and possibly Lebanon."

That's excellent news, Cliff. Thanks. That video of the baitball is terrific.

Speargun Hunter on Monday the 29th is a show not to miss!

Sheri shoots and fights her second World Record yellowfin tuna in Mexico. It's great video!

6:30 & 11:00 on the Outdoor Channel.

Chad

Tomorrow's Speargun Hunter features the legendary Hawaiian slinger from the fifties, Art Pinder.

New video was shot in the Bahamas and mixed in with digitized old 16mm film of Art and one of his brothers shot over 50 years ago.

6:30 pm & 11:00 pm on the Outdoor Channel.

Chad

Did anyone else have trouble with this show after a few episodes. Last week my recorder didn't work for some reason and this week it recorded an archery hunt. Next week I'll record a three hour sequence in case there is a problem with daylight time.
Aloha

Hey, that's weird! Same thing happened to me last week! When I tried to watch the recording what I got was a message saying that the program had been "skipped". The operators at Dish network couldnt come with any logical explanation for it. This week I watched it live and taped it at the same time, no problem.
