Hi guys new to spearfishing and was wondering if anyone had any good spots, tips on winds/ tides/swell etc that they would mind sharing, I'm thinking north Cornwall area thanks a lot .

Why would anyone want to share that sort of valuable, hard won information with a complete stranger?

Hi and welcome to the sport.
First bit of advice would be to study google earth in the areas you're thinking of diving looking for areas of rock and weed and anywhere that looks "fishy" (I believe all images are taken at low tide)
Keep an eye on the weather reports (I like XC weather) and look for spots out the wind.
Only trial and error will tell you what tide works at what location.
Spearos don't tend to give away detailed info unless you get to know them and gain their trust.
Do plenty of research on the net and above all dive well within yourself, enjoy yourself and be safe.

Hi mate you can come with me to a few local spots I will pm you my number .everyone is new to the sport at one stage ;)

Cheers scally and mattyb look forward to it, il ring you soon and we'll arrange a day.. at least there's some decent people that are willing to give you "TIPS"

Hi & welcome to the forum!
Firstly please notice that, that was headhunters first post too!
We are generally a friendly bunch on db even though headhunter does have a point - it is just that he put it in a bit of a brash way!
Most guys dont like to actually talk openly about specific marks because you just dont know who is reading the forums & who might take advantage of the information?

Thanks foxfish ye I understand that because its exactly the same as surfing but as I wrote I said tips not particular spots I'm keen for a good trek to find other spots to spear abit further afield, I was more interested on wind direction and tides really

In terms of wind, generally an offshore wind is a good bet for visibility. Other than that, if the wind is very light it doesn't really matter about the direction.

Pretty much everywhere that has sea will have spearfishing potential. Just keep moving about and trying lots of different spots - I have had some of my best sessions at places where most people don't go because they don't 'look fishy'.

Hi, have a good read of the Cornwall 2012 thread.
It is getting popular this spearfishing in the UK lark:t but there's enough room in the water for any newcomers and better if they are shown the right etiquette from the start, much like surfing.
I wish more of the tools that have taken to surfing now had the same guidance on etiquette.
:wave

Very impressed you all mostly ignored this weirdo's unpleasant first post, his second one was a bit more offensive so third one should be interesting...or not?
