A dear friend of mine (italian) is considering a job offer in Manchester, UK. He asked me to investigate if there's any chance to spearfish anywhere near if he accepts the job. Any inputs?
PS- while we're at it, he's the best, most skilled and most passionate spearo I've been hunting with ever, and the most loyal and helpful buddy. For sure he'd be a great addition to the Uk spearfishing community.

I'm based in Manchester and we have a good freediving group a pool session and do depth in N Wales. We also have a good few spearos, nearly all of them fish in N Wales which is about 2-2.5 hours drive. Its that or brown trout spearing in Blackpool or tesco trolleys in Liverpool :)

John Moorcroft is your man in Manchester, we just got an Italian spearo join our ranks funnily enough, i'll put them onto this thread. Pastor also fishes in N Wales and knows ...... everyone!!

Soon no fish will be safe :)

Manchester is cool enough but all the spearing is in North Wales. The roads are pretty good all the way and depending where in Manchester he will be Apneaboy's times of 2-2.5 hours is the maximum to somewhere decent to spear. There is nowhere at all in the Manchester area as from the bottom of Scotland all the way to the East side of North Wales is just mud flats.

Get your mate to check out this map from Colwyn Bay all the way to Cricceth, I will PM you more exact details. Tell your friend that this area is blessed with some of the best spearing in the UK. So living in Manchester he will get all the benefits of shops/night-life etc but also within easy driving distance of one of the most beautiful parts of the UK. If he comes I will be more than happy to buddy up with him and show him around etc, any friend of yours is welcome with us.

thanks guys, I had no doubt you'd be there to help!
I'll forward your advise and links to my friend. Then he'll take his decision about the job and I'll put you in contact in the case. BTW: he's a plastic/reconstructive surgeon (free penis enlargement anyone? rofl).

rofl He'd be hard pressed to make a bigger p...k out of me rofl

I remember whem my wife said she would only marry me if I had an 8 inch penis, but I told her, I wouldn't cut 2 inches off the end for anyone.

Dave

hmm...if so, BIG congratulations, Dave.
But for what concerns my...hmm....case, just guess why I call that guy "my dearest friend, the most helpful ever"....rofl

Why post just after Christmas thats cruel!! i got the other half a Tom Tom now if she had the choice rofl

The Yorkshire coast might also be worth a look too. Yorkshiremen are famously gung ho for most activities (climbing, caving, SCUBA, angling, horse racing, cricket,...) but I've only come across one spearo up there so far (& even then technically north of Yorkshire), so perhaps the vis. is bad. I was just reading about the rod fishing there this morning and it sounds rather good.

I wonder if the opening for a plastic surgeon has anything to do with the BBC moving a chunk of their programming up there?! I was going to suggest that he looked for somewhere nearer to the south coast but Manchester's need is probably greater than ours;).

North Wales it is then! Amico mio, tell your friend to relocate to South West Coast if at all possible.......I'm sure Pastor will swap a spearing session for a bigger c**k, I know I would, ha, ha

Hi
I think I'm the funnily enough italian mentioned from apneaboy. I've been spearing all summer in north wales all alone so I would be very interested to have a spearo mate in Manchester!
Dario

:waveHi everyone, I `m new member as well . My name is Jonas and I`m Lituanian, I live in Holmfirth,Huddersfield not far from Manchester ,and I would like to find someone to sperfish with .Sorry but I can`t show You any places, the reason is, the only time I`ve been spearfishing in UK was last monday. Before that I`ve spend plenty of time ,looking for nearest clear water place to my home ,and I found Cloughton near Scarborough Google Maps. From satellite this bay looked perfect, althogh I new that these images were taken long ago I`ve decided to test my luck . After 3,5 haurs train and bus trip I was there. From the shore I saw that this time I was`nt lucky at all,the water was so unclear - I could`nt see my arm :head. So my first introduction to british waters did`nt go very well, but I`m looking forward to go next time some where else. :)

Hi I'm Italian and I live in Manchester. I think in the east side to find clear water we'd need to go norther! The closest clear water from Manchester is in the west side and precisely in North Wales. Unfortunately this isnt the best moment to get the water (I mean for the fish) and I dont know very well spearing here though I speared all last summer but if you want we can try sometime together soon. I know a bit Baltic Sea too and I've spearing a bit around Helsinki in Finland!Cold but NICE!Let me know if you're interested!CIAO!

HI Jonk welcome to db, this is not a good time of the tear to spearfish at all!
You will find the south of England has plenty of opportunity in the summer months.
You could always visit us here in Guernsey, we have some of the best spearfishing in English waters.

I know it`s not a good time of the year, but I can't wait till summer :)
Thanks for inviting to Guernsey though.
