Just wondering if anyone has been spearfishing off of MD yet... I will be back in a few weeks and hope the action has begun. If anyone is interested in hunting out of Ocean City please let me know. I know the area well when fishing from a boat but haven't speared much around here.

I don't know what the action is like right now. I'm actually buying my first gun in the next couple weeks to go in the Keys when I go on vacation in June. After that I plan on getting my advanced open water cert so I can go out off OC and NC to do some spearing. My local dive shops do spearfishing trips out of OC and moorehead, NC of which I want to start going.

Once I get my advanced I'll join you in OC unless you have spots that are at 65 ft.

The owner of my dive shop says they spear flounder and tautog off OC - can you spear anything else?

I'm stopping by the shop today - I'll ask him if there action going on right now and I'll let you know.

Ted from Spearotiki.com (great custom guns a little bit of money but worth every last cent!!!!) is a good friend of mine from OC, he spears a lot on some of the wrecks and shoals in 25 to 45 feet of water south of the inlet. I have seen some nice pics of stripers, taug, sea bass, jacks, trigger fish, flounder, and cobia believe it or not that he has taken from these locations. Unfortunately he is moving back to the west coast this summer. I wont be back in OC till the second week of June but if you are in town let me know, I do mostly freediving, I am certified for open water but enjoy freediving much more as it is a greater challenge.
