Last weekend was a one of those great spearo ones. Early on, with my esclapez 90, I noticed an emperor in the distance. Well you know how shy they are. So I hit bottom aspetto, and looking face down, I kept an eye on the fish, slowly coming over to inspect this ugly camo species. Broadside it turned at 3m, then bang, behind the gills. Not a bad start!!
Next, was a 6kilo Grouper, face to face in a cave entrance.Naturally, she flew inside, and I could see part of it in the small opening. Well you know, how it is. Should I take the chance, and hit it. With dire consequences of repetetive dives trying hopelessly, to clear the fish or even the shaft. Of course, I couldn't resist........ bang!!! and flew to the surface. A couple of deep breaths, and down again. What luck today, the poor fish is sticking out of the cave with the mouth agape, obviously in shock. Times like this I feel sorry for the fish. But what to do,my palatte wins everytime!
Then came another smaller grouper, and finally, hidden in the darkness of a very low cave, it looks like a large Sweetlip, one of the best tasting fish in the red sea. Instinctivly, I take a shot, and Lo, Allah be praised!!!
Tragically, I had 12 people waiting on shore for lunch. So,wrap it up in alum foil, fish spices, coriander, ginger, paprika, chopped garlic and onions. A touch of olive oil, and squeezed lemon juice. Then bury the fish in red hot charcoal. Ummmmmmmm, orgasmic!!!! you don't wanna know the rest?!!::friday
Cheers:inlove

Well actually friends and myslef,do most of our spearfishing in the north of the red sea. This is because it is strictly prohibited all over there to spearo. If you get caught, say, around sharm or hurgada or even furthur south, you can get fined thousands of dollars, other than being jailed, which is the worst part. However, in the north, the law is not strictly applied, but we still keep a watch, and are careful. Its not worth getting into trouble with the authorities over here! Sorry, but that's the way things are!
Cheers
