Spearos in Cardiff area.

Hi I'm Steve,
Are there any other spearos in the Cardiff, South wales,West Wales area.
I'm looking for buddies to fish with, touch base and learn new stuff. It would be great to contact you and maybe go fishin.

I'm a novice spearo in the Barry area, I started spearfishing last summer but didn't go out regular until the last few months of this summer where I've been out quit a few times and have taken quite a few fish. On my last outing I took 7 pollack. How long have you been a spearo, how often do you go out, how much success have you had.

Hi Paul, I've been spearfishing for about 5 years with mixed success, before that I did a bit in France as a kid, on holiday. I mainly go round North pembrokeshire. this summer I've tried to do loads but the weather has stopped me but I've had some good days. I've had less fish this year but bigger ones, I go for pollack and Bass. I want to go down to the South coast to have a go down there. Are you interested in teaming up?
 
Hi jimy I live in Cardiff. I dont spearfish there cos, yes you are right the viz is crap, which is a shame cos there is supposed to be plenty of Bass in the bristol channel!
I fish round the pembrokeshire coast. I'm always keen to team up if you are interested.
 
Hi my name is JP i live in cardiff to, iv done most of my spearfishong in greece and ireland i am a novice, im waiting for my student loan to come through to get my new wetsuit lol, then im back in action.

I'm still quite new to this too, all the gear, no idea!. I think we all need to meet up and organise some fishin before it gets too cold. how about meeting in a pub in Cardiff and go from there. any suggestions for time and place?
 
Hey steve thats a good idea we also have a regional advisver here in cardiff tecdave he is quite experienced would be a good idea to contact him to,we could have quite a good group lol

Yep thats sounds like a plan, I live in the heath area but am happy to go anywhere. Next week is good with me, best would be Wed or Thurs night. Any sugestions where?
I can bring maps to show you some of the areas to look out out for.

Hi everyone what do you think of the birchgrove on wensday 7 or 8 depending on what everyone thinks, I think this pub is nice and it quite central and close to the A470 for paul from barry, what do ye think.

Hi everyone
wow I'm not alone after all! thanks for showing interest it will be great to meet up but Wednsday evening is difficult for me Would it be alright for thursday instead ? same time and place. I'm presuming you mean this week thursday being the 6th Nov.
 
I started spearfishing with my brother at the start of the summer as we both always fancied it and we soon got hooked (speared i mean :p). I had to buy a proper wetsuit (Omer) as I get cold easily and a gun (Comanche 90) but I had all the other gear needed so it was fairly cheap to start for me.

Managed to go quite a few times over summer but as I live in the northwest and my brother lives in the SW, it became damn expensive on the petrol but I did manage a few 7 hour car journeys down to Cornwall with him. Managed mullet/bass/pollack/cuttlefish between us to 5lb.

Cool to see where you guys go and what your experiences are like in Wales as I have no idea of what to expect :p

Whenever is the most convenient time for you guys to meet up? I can make any time/day. Where is the Birchwood though? Is it Canton way? I live in Pontcanna and can give anyone a lift if needed.

Great! I hope thats ok for everyone else. I'll be there at 7.30. I'll be the only one in the bar with a diving mask on the table, its less embarrassing than a carnation!. I'll bring some stuff on where Ive been too.
 
ya thursday will do instead sure should be cool looking forward to it and delighted there is another student lol :p

Shame you won't be there but keep in touch mate and we'll let you know about stuff on here. hopefully we will see you in the summer.
