well!! I finally cracked an invite to visit Nesim, his beautiful wife and his brother Nadim...

I have just been opened to the realm of spearing like never before.. i was shown all Nesim's trophies, their guns, tried to pull one back and failed dismally rofl rofl

I saw loads of Nadim's spearing vids and photos and I can't wait to buy my own gun...

Alison you are going to have to give me a tip on where to hold the thing as my cleavage took major strain last night!! rofl rofl

Wait till you nailed your first good fish then the fun begins.

1 gun wont be enough you will have to have 2 or 3 or more, you will spend your money on reels,knives,floats etc and your scuba gear will just sit in the corner gathering dust only to be used when all attempts at going out for a spear have failed.

You will start holding you breath till it hurts & hurts while watching T.V so you can go deeper for longer and you may get in heated debates on the old spearing on scuba thing

Then its all to late your addicted the drug is in your veins and you have to get it every week no matter what or somebody will pay.

And dont worry about your cleavage im sure there are enough males on this site that will do that for you.

Well it is more technique than strength, trust me I am not strong, try longer bands or get a gun with narrower bands (eg Riffe) untill you get the knack then you'll either hate spearfishing or be hooked and buying all sorts of new kit rofl The beauty of the riffe is that they really are easy girlie) to load but take a little longer but with multi bands are very versitile

Like sascha said hold it in the middle but do one of either two things as you put your wetsuit on: either tuck your boobs under your armpits of put some packing between them, roll up a hand towel or similar from both ends to form a twin cylinder shape, tuck it inside your suit, this stops the suit pulling and squeezing :waterwork and gives a little location for the back end of the gun. Its going to feel like you've bruised your strenum for the first week but that goes and doesnt happen again so dont worry about that

Hey Sara,

Good to hear you're getting into this! As for where to put the butt of the gun.. I've found that just under my sternum provides the most stable spot for loading most any gun. Since it's softer than the sternum, it keeps the butt from slipping out one way or another. The trick will be to find the right size bands for your strength.

hehehe that reminds me of a time during a liveaboard trip...

I was loading the gun on my weightbelt buckle, cause my chest was in major agony from loading a speargun 7 days running, the handle slipped...

Any children I have will be born with a headache! :waterwork

I usually load the gun with the handle sitting in my breadbasket, just below the sternum as Andrsn already mentioned. If I dive without my wetsuit (lycra stingersuit only), then I tend to shift to one pec or the other after a while. For a female with any significant female chest bits, I'd suggest the stomach or beltbuckle if the chest area is too sore.

well my "breadbasket" has got two huge rolls in it.. so will need to figure out Alison's "stuffing the towel" (??) (um??) technique (interesting) and also sticking them under my armpits.. well they don't stretch that much yet!!! gimme a break!!! rofl rofl

As for loading the Major's train... rofl rofl I would say its more unloading it right now that is taking up my time

When I first went out with a speargun I couldnt load it to save my life so I put the spear halfway in hooked on the wishbone and jammed the tip against a rock them bushed the gun down on the spear untill it locked into the trigger :rcard Looking back, well lets just say "@#*&%@%$~#&+ IDIOT!!!!" Not to be recomended at all!
