I've read a few posts about these but haven't seen any photos and would like to see how they work.

After having to swim back to the beach a couple of times yesterday to unload my clothespin stringer I decided I need something better.

So, who has photos, or links to photos, that they can share?

Thanks,

Jon

jon check this out:

youll find some pics here in the post by miles...
basically, the spike is tied up to your float line and clipped on to the handle of your gun (to the little loop at the bottom of most handles), so you have the gun handle, a clip, the spike and then the float line which you could attach directly to your float OR, there is another part of the speed stringer system, basically a short SS cable with a flopper, that you tie between the float line and the float, the purpose of this extension/flopper is 1: to ensure that the fish do not travl back up your float line
2: easy to remove the fish just unclip the ss cable from the float and all the fish just slide down
AMazing system, been using it for quite some time...

Looks great to me.

Now, where can I buy one?

Jon

Heh, I just found this thread Jon. I saw Marwan's post in a poll thread and liked the idea. I have been looking on and off all day for one of those. Let me know what you find. If I have to, I'll have a friend make one or two or 3 :)

EDIT: I found on accessories third item. Now I just need to find one in the states.

Rob allen makes them, i buy directly from him as there is no dealer in my country, im sure theres a rob allen dealer in the us, maybe in florida if im not mistaken.. my advice, buy at least 2 if you are using 2 lengths of float line..( ihave a short and long one depending on my location)..also i would recommend the standard float line to be used with this like the ones made by rob allen and rabitech, i think also omer makes them , NOT the vinyl cable coated ones..the normal rope float line, with looped ends

Florida Freedivers carries them, they just do not have them on their site. I'm trying to order some now, he has to find a price.

EDIT: They are ~$20. They come with the cable for the float end that has the flopper to keep them from coming back down the line.

I get the first bit just dont get the two diffrent ways at the foat end floper bit?

on web sites it only has the metal bar?

So, how many carp can you string on a 40' float line?:martial

Jon;)

On the gun end there is a steel rod with an eye on each end. The rope goes to one eyelet, the gun clips to the other eyelet.

The other end is a cable that clips to the float and to the floatline. At the connection of the float line to the cable is a flopper to keep the fish from coming back down the line.

R.A. sent this pic to Florida Freedivers and he forwarded it to me. But it shows both parts of the system.

AHHHH i seeee

How strong is the stringer line up to the float.

I know of peeple who use those with bungies but when the fish would slide up it would nik holes and rips in the boungies???????

(goood pic)

Was thinking of geting the RA kniffe from florida free divers is the store any good and are they cheep to ship?(nj area)

thanks

I'm not sure what the shipping is costing me :) But yes they are a good shop and good people from my conversation on the phone with him.

I ordered a Rob Allen float line that he recommended and said should work very well. The floatline is plent strong. From the line to the fish holder you have to use dyneema to connect the two. This is so you don't have a huge knot stopping the fish. I'm not using a tuna bungie, I'm going to be using a regular nylon line. I am hoping the fish go up the line smoothly.

One question about the stringer for those that use them. (it may be in one of the other threads, I'll look) How do you feed the fish onto the line? It seemd if you feed through the gills and out the mouth, the gills would hang up more on the float line.

Thanks

Shouldn't it go through the mouth and out the gills?

That way the fish would work their way up the line to your float.

Jon

It seems to me that would be less of a hangup on the gills too. But Miles and I believe Marwan in other threads that you go in the gills and out the mouth. I had that cheapie rope stringer and gettin it out of the gills was a mess. This float line is a lot more smooth though, so I really don't know.

yeah thats what i do, in the gill out the mouth...i feel it may hangup on the line only if its a small fish..other then that no probs..

heres a DIY speed stringer I made with a bent shaft and cheapo point...we'll see how it fairs

I don't see the gun end in the pic, at least I can't make it out. the loop through your spear tip, you may want to make a sharp kink at the apex of the loop. On the R.A. one I've got here it is bent close. The fish, especially smalle ones may have trouble passing over it? Hard to tell from a picture of course, I'm just going by comparison and guesses though :)

Let us know how it fairs!
