Has anyone had problems with the exterior coating on the lenses sort of bubbling up, or flaking off? I've got two spheras where the lenses have had this problem - on one for sure I know it was not left in the sun or put in contact with anything - it happened overnight! It makes it impossible to focus through that area of the lense.

In your case, maybe it froze off? :)
I think I've seen the lens coating wrinkled once or twice after it dried with salt water on it, but it disappeared after I washed it. Maybe it has something to do with it...

Heres another one:

So - all in love with my new sphera I broke out another one since the lens went bad on the first one.

Got in the water, got my camera out - guess what!? This sphera does absolutely no correction at all!! (the first one corrected my nearsightedness almost perfectly)

My only thought about the first one is some sort of detergent or something must have gotten on the lense.

Ah well, so it goes. I'll just make sure an allways bring a backup mask.

I second Deepthought's intuition: your masks froze off. Convince yourself: it's undefreezably frozen.
Time for you to buy the brown camo Olympia and get yourself on the way for global conquest!

'undefreezably': Proof positive Italians invented (and continue to invent)english.

I have spent much time and study stalking the elusive Technisub Marina. If the Goddess of Nasal Accomodation and Underwater Vision (I'm down with specificity when it comes to my personal pantheon; she looks just like Kate Blanchett - only under water) favors; me my quest shall bear fruit this week!

(not to forget the God of expedient parcelry and general industriousness - who looks like Iggy Pop)

I did get an Olympia - but passed it on to my dive buddy. Same field as the alien, more volume, stiff skirt. Fits him better though.

I wear the Sphera swimming mask. I had a tinted one bubble completely off and it was only a couple of weeks old. I never froze it and only had it in the pool. It looked as though the glue just didnt take well. The retailer stood behind it for me. I now have had the replacement for over 1 year with no problems except maybe some fog :)

I used to burn through 1-2 Sphera's a year becuase they scratch up so fast and the lenses pop out.

Since I switched to the Marina I don't even think about other masks.:inlove Your going to love yours when it finally gets there. I find it much more comfortable than my OMER Alien. It doesn't have any fogging problems, no matter what the temperature, and I don't have the lens problems like I did with the Sphera.

For the record - my sphera was never subjected to freezing temperatures. Just the usual small arms fire from boaters and vicious attacks from rock bass.
Since I put claymoors on my float and mined my fav dive spots the boaters have backed off. The rock bass remain and issue, but I am currently in negotiations with their queen.

I've compared the 'correcting sphera' with the 'non-correcting sphera' and there is a visible difference in the shape of the lens. The correcting mask lens has a curve in the vertical plane whereas the non-correcting one does not.
