Hi all,

I bought a classic sphera yesterday cause I read too much for this mask in here and will soon try it on the water. I made the test for fitting on my face in the shop by pushing her towards my face instantly and forcefully but she did not cupped. But when i tried to inhale through my nose to make the compress feeling she did stayed very well and indeed feels so comfortable. Will try her on the water but..I have a question,

I've also tried the no-nose sphera which when i pushed her to stay on my face she cupped extremely good (almost i couldnt take her off!).

If I buy this no-nose sphera and use her with a nose clip what is the safe depth that I can go without the need of equalization and what is the maximum decompression limit. I've read some old post about 20meters or 30..but this is for the classic sphera or the no-nose one?

Between the classic and the no-nose, the no-nose stayed perfectly on my face, dont know why...they are the same!

With the no-nose mask you could have a decent barotrauma in as little as a few metres, certainly not 20-30m unless you equalise it in some way.

Using a pipe to push air into the mask via the mouth seemed a viable alternative, there is a few threads on here about pipe goggles.

I've heard of people who have holes in their tear ducts that can get air through but that is for a minute proportion of people so its unlikely you could do that.

If it doesn't cup when you push it on just check for leaks around the edges of the skirt, they are excellent masks but that is one problem they do have.

Yes i know about pipe mask etc. Just wanted to know at how many meters you get the squeeze with the no-nose sphera.

Also how can I check about leaks around the edge of the skirt while i'm at shop or even at home?? Strange that the classic full mask doesnt cup and the no-nose cups perfectly...

Ah sorry, I just skimmed over your post. I imagine that the nose version doesn't stay on because when you push it on against your face your soft palate is open so the air just goes into your lungs and then back out again. The non nose version stays on because the air has no where to go except out the sides and it can't get back in because it is sealed.

I've thought about that Sam but when i'm doing this with my Cressi Lince it cups!

My others like Minima, super occhio and my new sphera fails to cup!

What a hell!

That is strange. Maybe it has something to do with the shape of the nose pocket. Very strange indeed....
