Confirmed by an Aqualung rep - The Sphera is on the way out - no planned replacement.

Alright, so what are we now supposed to dive with? Need compressible mask...:crutch

I just bought four for 29.99us. They are still available - just out of production.

Yep... read it... loved it... emailed my local retailer and convinced him to place an order to Le manufacturer. That´s about 2 months ago now and what I´ve heard from the retailer is that they don´t answer his inquiries. :/

Anyone succeeded in placing an order to that company?

I wanted to make a mass order for DB members, but seing the low interest I abandoned the idea. However, I spoke to my local dealer here about the mask and he will keep it on stock for both members of our club and for public. They are building also an online store, so you should be able to order the mask online then.

I can also try to find out the email address of the store in Sête, where I bought the mask - I think they have them on stock permanently, and guess that they would be willing to ship them abroad too. I'll check it with owner.

As for the Sommap company - they answered my query quite quickly, but it's true I wrote in French and wanted a quote for 100 pieces. I doubt they do retail directly.

OK, I'll check tomorrow both with the store here in Lyon and in Sête to see if they are able and willing to send a few masks abroad.

Hey Trux, thanks for posting about these. I'd like to try one sometime. The spheras are still out there but I haven't found them at the price I paid for a couple of days. I like them because the PC lenses correct my vision almost perfectly.

That seems to confirm the aquatic ape theory! You should post about it to the AAT thread. Are you going on loosing hair too? If so, then it means that the evolution picked up the speed again, and you are on the way to transform to a full marine mammal.

In June 0f 08 and the at Dema08 I spoke the west coast executive and was told that only the kids Sphera was being discontinued but not the adults.possibly the division of Aqualung for your part of the country might be discontinuing due to sales in that region
but not for the west coast .Happy Diving (Check out swim2000.com and swimoutlet.com)

I've been in touch with Sommap since last year.

In addition to the mask, is there anything else that they carry that you would be interested in trying out or purchasing?

Pete

Hi Apnea Queen,

I talked to rep for aqualung sporting goods sales based in California. My contact was motivated by the fact that the Sphera vanished from Leisurepro - where I ordered two last summer. I subsequently found that it no longer appears on the Aquasphere site (where I saw it a few months ago), the Aqualung site or the Technisub site.

I was told the Sphera is being discontinued but that many stores still have it in stock - the rep was kind enough to send me a link to one of their larger distributors and to recommend the Micromask as a possible alternative in light of the fact that there are no plans to replace the Sphera.

Anyway - that's the scoop I got in detail.

Great, thanks Trux for checking! If the Sommap were available online (or by email) I´d order a few.

I went today to the store here in Lyon, but they do not have them yet. I told them, there are people interested, and ask them to give me ASAP prices including shipping in France, Europe, and oversees. I hope it won't take too long, though I doubt they'll have them ready for shipping before the Holydays.

I also tried to call the shop in Sête, where I bought mine, but did not manage to reach them.

Splendid! np about the timeframe for my part... seas about to freeze over within a month. :)

Here's a source that still has Spheras in stock, but it's only good for EU folks. An eBay seller, Mike's Diving, has a number of them on sale (I think he said he's got 10 of the clear ones at the moment):

eBay UK Shop - Snorkelling: masks, aqua sphere, bodyglove

He'll only ship to within Europe, so people on other continents are going to have to find other sources.

which store sells this masks in Lyon ? (i am asking because lyon is my hometown ,so i would like to buy a few when i get back there visiting)

It is Sub Odyssée, 91 quai Pierre Scize (old town) - originally it was Subchandlers store.

I just called them now - although they ordered the masks at Sommap before the holydays, they did not receive them yet. I'll post here as soon as they are available.

If you want to buy a few when visiting in Lyon, make sure to call or email them a few weeks in advance and reserve them - I have the feeling they did not really believe that they can sell a lot of them, so am not sure if they ordered enough to have them permanently on stock in sufficient quantities. Or, should you have problems with it, I could buy and keep them for you. Either here in Lyon or in Sête, where I bought mine (I'll go there again in March or April).
