Spinner shark and surfer vid

Thread Status: Hello , There was no answer in this thread for more than 60 days.
It can take a long time to get an up-to-date response or contact with relevant users.
roflForget the speargun, you'd need a 12 gauge shotgun to shoot those Spinning Shark (c.f. Springing Teal).

or better yet, 10 ga. with 0000 buckshot.

Thats where I surf! My wife and I sometimes sit at the beach all morning and watch the spinners jump. I could never get a picture. Great video.

I was going to remove my above post, as it has been pointed out to me that we have a lot of shark lovers on the forum (after I posted a shark attack thread with the URL of a rather gory website). But as OldSarge has enhanced my post with his superior knowledge of ballistics, I'll let it stand and just say, obviously I was joking. I stay well away from sharks and hope they'll reciprocate.

[BTW Sarge, I just finished reading Sniper 1 by Sgt. Dan Mills, a surprisingly good read (recommended by my well read father-in-law & a colleague with an interest in long range target shooting). Couldn't put it down. The newspapers didn't covered this.]

I've also just finished reading this book too. First class! Lots of action from a professional soldiers point of view, and squaddie humour.
The internet dating wind up had me crying with laughter.rofl

It's a problem for a mentor to have the 'edit' and the 'quote' button so close together. I actually wanted to respond to X's statement, not add to it. Usually, I catch myself but I must have been too far down a bottle of Zin that night.

As to snipers, those guys are frighteningly good and, IMO, just a little psychotic. I have no problem shooting someone who's shooting at me but treating another person as a game animal is a bit chilling. Got to respect their ability, though, and in modern warfare they have a defininte place.

That was cruel.:D There are several US characters & references in the book too (largely friendly/positive). There was a lot going on that the press here did not report.

Getting back to the spinning shark - I think every rod fisherman would just love to be attached to that, in fact you could easily believe it was already hooked.

I am dismayed by your proposal. Shooting a shark from a shotgun? Why would you do that if you can use an AGS-17 or AGS-30 automatic grenade launcher? I fired one at an arms fair in siberia - real fun, albeit not as precise as a shotgun.

I know! It was a brutal experience! Hunter S. Thompson-style. We left moscow when it was +30C, but it was only +10 C in Omsk and it got colder and snowed and rained the next day. So I and fellow journos bought all cheap brandy we could at this fair and sought shelter in an ammo loading bunker until the firing part of the arms expo.
