A Spiny Lobster Report Card is required for any person taking spiny lobster.
Regulations require that prior to beginning fishing activity
the cardholder must record the month, day, location, and gear
code on the first available line on the report card. When the
cardholder moves to another location, or finishes fishing for
the day, he or she must immediately record on the card the
number of lobster kept from that location.

Unlike abalone permit report cards, an additional card may
be purchased in the event an individual fills in all lines and
returns a spiny lobster report card.

Cards cost $7.90
The question I have is if I go free diving for fish, once the season opens foe bugs, should I fill out a report card every dive that’s shallow enough to get a bug just in case I get one. If that’s the case, with my lack of expertise of actually grabbing one. I could have the whole darn card filled and no bugs. Funny, but truly sad. Then I would have to get/BUY another card. Money is not the issue. It’s the thought of having to list all my dives, every time I change a spot, and the hassle of getting a new card. I could log multiple entries per day.

I understand that they want to track the numbers and where there coming from…

Has anyone else thought of the new regulations?

i went over the new regs the other day and and i think they are flawed only in the fact that you have to record your dive location prior to entering the water i know for me that means multiple cards with no bugs on them

It sounds like the Fish and Game Commission has come up with yet another confusing regulation that will also bring in a bit of money. Bummer. I was looking forward to diving for bugs
