I have a 55cm sporasub (I believe the aspic). I never use it because the size is just too small for me. I'd like to replace the barrel with a Mako or hammerhead railgun barrel and have an 80cm or 90cm gun. Does anyone know if they are compatible. And also, will the trigger be able to handle the additional stress of a longer and more powerful band?

One of the European brands made the original RA handle - it might have been Sporasub (it's been discussed on the forum at least twice in the past, might be worth a search). I seem to recall that there was an issue with the handle concerned releasing prematurely sometimes (but not for the RA version?) - not something that you'd want to over power.

Why not keep the 55 as a spare on your float for bad viz and/or caves, or sell it on eBay and get yourself a complete new Mako or Hammerhead. I think that will bring you least hassle and most joy;). I'm often in conditions where a 55 would be perfectly adequate and might even offer some advantage on occasion. Learn to love the murk!

I have 5 sporasub gun's, I would agree with X, there is nothing special about that handle, after 10 years they go (in fact two of those five are gone now), the trigger does not hold the shaft any more. I would think going with HH or mako gun is a very good choice.

The other issue I had with the handle was using it without the but support, broke it.

Almost, original RA handle is the Picasso Basic with a reinforcing pin.

Sporasub handle will be fine as far a stress is concerned, wont be an issue, cant quite remember if the handle will fit but i'm pretty sure it will as the Rabitech stealth, Mako handle are based on the sporasub handle i'm almost certain so shouldnt be an issue other option is to just add a longer 28mm pipe barrel and add a stick on or glue on Rail ala OMER accessory which will also work just fine.
