Hi,
Did anyone see the program on BBC lats night about sharks? It was a fairly cheesy program, but it had some good footage which was cool. The guy hosting the program did a section when he was swimming with whale sharks, explaining all about them and how fast they swim, he then said "but I have a bit of technology to help me keep up with them" and it cuts to what looks like a spring loaded monofin.

has anyone else seen these? It was a fairly thin fin in length with the main body made out of some kind of metal, with a rubber edge of about an inch or more (like a windscreen wiper). And then where the fin met the footpockets (which had what looked like an aluminium shoe support), it looked like there was some kind of tight spring that smoothed out the movement of the kick.

I doubt I have described this very well, I'm wondering if anyone else has seen or used one? Or even if there are pictures of them around.

Didnt see it but sounds interesting. Not sure how the spring would actually help since in practice the fin part bends to store up energy - unless it allows the blade to pivot in some way.
Wouldnt be allowed in a competition.
