Does anyone local (devon /cornwall) ever catch squid,if so where, when(time of year) how deep etc, how do you catch them? if you spear them where do you aim to kill? I like to eat squid and would appreciate any info but do not expect you to reveal your top spots ,if any! Also what wetsuit socks does anyone consider to be warmest / best? thanks....

Not sure about your neck of the woods but I know they jig for them at Portland in the Autumn months not far from shore either. It was on one of the Rick Stein programmes.

We get the Humboldt Squid off the SoCal coast in the summer but when they show up most divers get out of the water. Those monsters are scarier than sharks!

And as an update, Dale's gonetobaja website is long gone. However, he still seems to be operating his charter boat. I sent him a PM to see how he is doing. But as he and Scott Casell will testify, those big squids are no joke.
