Hi all

Ok I'm looking to live in bali and train up to instructor level....it is SSI qualifications. Is the SSI system recognised by aida. Just want to know people's opinions on the SSI freediving training system. Thanks guys

I was just saying in another post that the best place in bali which offers the SSI course is in Tulamben in the north-east of the island. I was recently at a nice padi resort called Tauch Terminal Tulamben for scuba-diving and noticed that there were several other resorts which offered the SSI courses. The main dive site is pretty crowded but well worth seeing with the wreak of the USS Liberty and many barracuda, napoleon and occasionnaly even some whale-sharks.
Sorry, a bit off topic but though you might like to know. :)

Hi there. I run Freedive Gili on Gili Trawangan near Bali. There are a few places in the area where you can learn to Freedive and all the instructors are good. There are three instructors teaching from Sanur in Bali, 2 are teaching SSI and one is AIDA, and there is a guy called Matt who teaches his own his own system, but I've only heard good things about him. We are the only center offering all levels including Instructor training through SSI. SSI and AIDA courses have equivalency as previously mentioned, content is roughly the same, as are the levels at which different skills and theory are introduced. You can find reviews on trip advisor and Facebook pages if you want to research the different options further. Hope this helps.
