Sten: barrel separating from handle?

I’ve got a super sten that I recently noticed seems to have the barrel separating from handle. I don’t know how long it’s been like this. My friend brought it to my attention because his barrel sits flush with the handle assembly. There is about 1/8” gap between the handle assembly and the barrel.

Gun works great and holds air, however I’ve also had the line retainer not re-engage after a shot a few times recently as well. When it won’t re-engage I have to manually pull the trigger forward out of the handle and the line retainer will then lock straight. I’m guessing this isn’t a coincidence with what’s going on with the handle/barrel?

Has anyone had this happened? Any suggestions for a fix? Chances this blows up in my face?

My dive partner who knew these guns inside/out passed away a little while back. I’ve seen him take them apart and change out pistons/oil. I even have a few of the tools he used. I could probably fix it with a little direction if this is a legitimate safety/performance issue. Thanks for your help.

Thank you. I’ve watched a couple but the video quality wasn’t very good. This looks much better.

Rear valve and/or Muzzle not tight enough

Be cautious: the barrel must fit properly into the handle.
