Stéphane Mifsud 213mts Dynamic

Hi miguel,
on my opinion this could be declared as a cmas world record. But since there was a french aida-judge on place (read it in a french forum, not sure about it ) it could also count as a new french national record. Since there was no International Aida judge at the competition i dont think the performance will get aida world record status. Beside all this I really wish that someday Tom Sietas and Stephane Mifsud compete directly against each other, since they are capable of incredible performances in almost every pool discipline. Unfortunately as we have seen with the monaco world static contest last year, some people in france can't admit that Tom Sietas was freed from the doping suspicions on him.
Sorry if this answer is drifting away from the original question, but this problem just keeps on annoying me!
Have a nice and peacefull day,
Christophe :)

You're rigth Waterenthusiast : it will probably be ratified as a french national record.
Regarding the Tom vs Stephane competition, sadly Stephane does not show much respect toward Tom (see [ame="http://www.plongeur.com/forums/showpost.php?p=372244&postcount=11"]Forums plong?Plongeur.com - Afficher un message - 213 m?es pour St?ane Mifsud[/ame] for instance)

Thanks for the link Fabrice,
Its not the first time that Stephane Mifsud claims that he is competing against "someone" (doesn't seem to have the guts to name Tom Sietas), who is using illicite substances.
:vangry This is total crap! I mean this topic was discussed a lot here on DB and everyone should realize after the B-probes and the second checking of the A-probes were negative, that he was clean!!! As much as i respect the performances from Stephane Mifsud, he really shows a bad attitude to me. I begin to think that he is afraid of competing against someone better.
Okay, I think i will stop here because i could write endlessly on this subject.
Cheers,
Christophe

It would be interesting to see if Mifsud have the "guts" to say who he point this accusation of his against. What I know there is this far NO positive doping tests in STATIC or DYNAMIC this far. The organizer of Monaco Static competition last year didn't want Tom to be there, and my guess is that they want to promote Mifsud as "the best" .... :head

The official national record for Germany is 215m... so 213 is this far second on the list, not first.

regards
B

Not to mention that the Monaco event was not very well organized. If I remember right, some athletes who were there, told me a few things about this.

Bill, what are so far the positive tests that have been reported?

Reading a bit further in the forum Fabrice mentions, Stephane mifsud was confronted to his commentaries on Tom Sietas.
Here is the link for those wihout problems with the french language ;) :

Mainly he is claiming that the doping tests where suspicious and that he knows a physician involved in this test who also states this.Further he says that he is just passioned and don't want the discipline he is involved to be dragged in the mud.

Well, the problem for me is that he accuses Tom based on suspicions and without proofs or without showing them. This is not correct for someone who claims to "protect" his sport. As i remember it's innocent till proof of guilt and not the opposite!
Christophe :)

Personally I trust Tom without any doubts, but also understand Stephan's position (although I do not sympathize with it). If you are at the top and are surpassed by someone who had one of two probes in an anti-doping test positive, it is an easy excuse for the loss of the top position. Stephan would certainly get more respect if he renounced from such comments. His performance is remarkable and he definitely does not need to diminish Tom's records in this way.

Btw, I've read about the doping case even on Tom's website, but do not remember seeing what exactly was the substance that was found in the A probe. Does anybody know it? And is that substance helping apnea at all? There are many forbidden substances used in the performance sport, but most of them would be counterproductive in apnea. However, I am aware that the presence of the substance was ruled out by the B probe - I am just asking and speculating because it is quite possible that even if the A probe was right and confirmed by the B probe, the substance might have not helped to the record at all.

As far as i know, Erythropoietin (EPO) would help.

The increased number of red blood cells allowes to get more O2 in your blood, which, of course, will help dive for a longer time.

But i really don't think, that Tom would take any doping-substances. It's too bad that even if there is evidence for the innocence, some people keep up the suspicion.
