hey every1 im new to the forum
im thinking about buying these fins but wasn't sure on the stiffness.
'm about 180cm tall and weigh 13stone and wont be diving no more than 20mtrs.
Also with the size im about 8.5 uk so would a 43-44 be fine, i have a set of cressi fins which are this size just not sure if different companies have different size grading
thanks in advance

Welcome to DB

They use omer foot pockets which are a wider fit than cressi fins. I would say mediums for your height and weight but best to contact the fins4u team either through there website www.fins4u.com or email admin@fins4u.com

hope this helps

You're talking about Leaderfins? I did some research on the waves, since they seem rather reasonable - especially the carbon fins.
Just yesterday I ordered the black fiber blades. Leaderfins make their own foot pockets, but they don't seem to have a good reputation. That's why I ordered extra Omer Stingray foot pockets.
The stiffness of the blades seems to be on the soft side. Thus I ordered hard ones (I am 185 and 73).

Regarding the carbon fins I wouldn't recommend them. I've seen pictures of broken blades. In them you could see that they were regular fiber blades with one or two layers of carbon on top and bottom.

hey maui, i did some research and most people think the carbons are great, ur right tho there not fully carbon, do u think you could post ther link of the broken fins.
cheers

The carbons are great for sure, but my guess is that they don't really differ from the regular fiber ones.
I couldn't find the review with the broken blades anymore, but a friend of mine had made the exact same experience. The main part of his broken waves consisted of fiber glass.

I use Carbon WAVES.
Fiberglass and Carbon is prettymuch the same, Carbon is a littlebit more "faster".
Leaderfins dont sell their fins with Omer footpockets anymore, they have their own footpockets now, these are too soft! Go with Omer Stingray or H.Dessault footpockets!

btw, here in Estonia is also another good fins company named SpecialFins
SpecialFins Monofins & fins for Freediving,Spearfishing,UW Games and rescue-lifesaving sport
Bit more expensive but better quality! (so i have heard)

Good luck!

I stand corrected Mauii for some reason I had leaderfins on my mind. Ive never used or seen waves so cant comment

It sounds like Leaderfins have made a bad choice with the footpockets.

I have heard, that the first footpockets batch was bad, new batch should be 15% stiffer
Footpocket itself is clone of Stingray, just softer Because its soft, its comfy. Just worser performance

I tried using the Leaderfins wave with Omer Stingray f/p, but they are way to wide for me! I even tried one size smaller.
Are there other foopockets compatible with Leaderfins which have narrow f/p?

I Dont know, so far i know the Omer f/p is narrowest. All other are wider.
But use socks ?

Yeah, maybe socks. But what about Mares and Beuchat? Would they fit?

Mares may but Beuchat not.
They are pretty same like Stingray, i have used Beuchat Mundial Competiton fins

I have also narrow feet, i use Leaderfins f/p (same like Stingray) with 7mm socks. Fits perfect

I have a set of the carbon camo (hard) and they have been great, very soft foot pockets.

I have WAVES Camo-Carbon and happy with the blades so far, but less so with their f/p because of the following reasons.

1. They are a little too heavy for my taste. (805g for 43-44 size)
2. The sizing is also a bit off to the smaller side compared to other brands I am used to.
3. They don't accommodate my high-arched foot well.

Has anyone tried to install their blades into Mares Razor f/p?
Do they fit straight on or is some sort of modification required?

Thank you.

I have a set of leaderfins in medium carbon stiffness for the last 6 months now and I have only positive things to say about them.I dove in water temp from 6 degrees Celsius to 29 degree celsius and the blades performed each time every time.I have a wide foot and the previus Cressi Gara were to narrow for me but this ones are just perfect.Very comfortable, no pressure and I can dive all day without having any problems with the muscle cramps.
