I went out to Corona Del Mar for a first attempt at Spearfishing, using my mares 5.5mm camo wetsuit, weight belt and spearpole.
I was trolling the bottom and came across two California Halibut, I slowed down and stopped to look at them, armed my spear and released.
I have to say, it was a perfect shot. Right between the eyes and it's head.
Pretty much kill shot on my first attempt, stoked.
It was also within the legal limit and was tasty with chips.

Excelent job Blake. Usually once you find 2 halibut in the same spot you will often find up to 6 or more. Often surrounding a single large female. So dont always take the first one you see.

Im in CDM every day, if you want to dive let me know. I have some good halibut hunting tips. And remember especially with halibut if you want to keep the worms out of the meat, gut them as soon as you kill them.
