strong gloves?? for polespear help

Hi I need help/ recommendations for gloves for use with a polespear.

During spring I was using 3.5mm cressi super stretch. But my polespear just tore holes in the fingers and all the seams poped.

During the summer no problem, just used disposable cotton gloves, about
$1 a pair..

But now winter is coming I want something with thickness that will keep my hands warm preferably 5mm.

I use a gun and a polespear, but mainly my polespear. so I need gloves that are strong and warm.

If you know of some gloves that might suit, please reply.
And if you know where to get them that would be even better.

Last winter (in Denmark) i used Mares 5+3 gloves which worked very well for me. Very durable and warm.
 
Beuchat 2.5 mm tropiks gloves is very comfy with my 6' fiberglass polespear
 
i know guys that go through gloves like crazy. you might want to try using 3mm gloves and then wearing the cheap cotton ones over them. the 3mm should keep your hands warm and the cotton pair will take the bulk of the abuse. however, the cotton might sag over the 3mm. try it out and if it works then stick to it.

i had a pair of kevlar padded gloves from Akona that were meant for catching lobster and crayfish. they lasted for a very long time, were very durable and provided adequate protection from the cold.

alternatively, if you have a lot of free time, and are skilled with a neddle, you could add some extra stitching in the major stress points. just turn the glove inside out and add stitches. usually the area in between the thumb and index finger is one of the highest stress points in a glove, particularly when using a polespear.

if you really feel like experimenting, you could go to a textile market, and get those iron-on patches that can be used to seal holes in jeans. cut out the patch in the shape and size of your palm and iron it on. this shouldnt be done if your palms are made of neoprene.

imho, kevlar palms with some extra stitching are the way to go, only problem is that they dont over that much protection from the cold.

Believe it or not I use Silicon constuction gloves from home depot, had these all year long and don't even show a pulled string, fray or scratch, under $20

Thanks for the help.

I've decided to go for the kevlar gloves, found a pair on ebay. Hope they are ok. fairly cheap. but if they are good enough to last at least a good few months. (my polespear really kills gloves) I might get a couple of pairs next time. they only cost me like $20, neoprene 5mm kevlar palms and finger tips. no brand name though.

I've tried the cotton gloves over the top of my regular gloves. the finger did last longer, but the seams popped all the same.

Silicon contruction gloves?? might try them next spring. thanks for the tip.
