Hi everyone!

I am a keen sports endurance physiologist and am currently studying a Masters degree in Sports Science in Exeter, UK. As some of you may already know, Exeter University is the hub of all beetroots.....

I am very interested on the effects of beetroot juice (nitrates) on the oxygen starved body (hypoxia). I would like to control the study group and also have a good measure of effects so I think freedivers are the perfect study group for me. I also read a recent paper suggesting an increased benefit in single breath performance post nitrate ingestion.

To go ahead with this study I would need at least 10 volunteers, a club would be really good. I perceive there being 4 test days; pre and post physiological tests and then pre and post performance tests. Tests would probably be around May time.

One of the benefits you can gain from this is the pre and post physiological tests which will be done in a lab environment and will include VO2 measurement and lactate profiling.

If anyone's interested then message me here or email me at benjicox@hotmail.com.

Interesting! I guess you are looking for a club in the UK, or even directly more locally situated?

Hi Trux, yes preffereably UK based and at least SW. One of the restrictions is that the pre and post physiological testing is lab based....

Ben.
