stupid question about blackouts

They say that after a blackout you're not supposed to do any more freediving for 24 hours...

Why is that? Does it increase the risk of subsequent blackouts, or what?

Speaking of blackout questions...

What else can and can't I do in that 24-hour period? Is scuba diving ok? How about breathholding on dry land in bed?

Oh wait...is it 12 or 24 hours one has to wait?

I think it is more like 12 - it is because your o2 is severely depleted - so yes; increased likelihood of another blackout.
