Hi everyone,
I'm new to the forum. I'm english but live in Germany, Düsseldorf. I've been freediving all my life I guess. Ever since I was a kid with a Jacques-Style mask snorkeling on the Costa Brava, until now...still snorkeling, only sometimes a bit deeper, with a max of about 30-50ft, usually for about 3-4 minutes. Never had a blackout, samba etc and almost always dived alone. Must have been doing something right, as it's almost second nature to me, but I will point out to anyone starting out; do not dive alone!
I've always envied people who can stay down for 5-6 mins + so I thought it was time to get some help on my breathing and technique and I've enrolled in a course in February in Soma Bay, Egypt. (I'm 52, but it's never too late).
To cut a long story short I've been looking for some new equipment and I came across Subprof.com who is in Spain. They have some quite competitive prices. They've recently been offering the Mares Viper mask, which was supposed to be in stock as of 15th January. By the looks of it, it seems quite the mask. Before I ordered I wanted to know if it really is in stock and sent them an email last week, then another one and another one. No answer.
Before I go sending them money I wanted to know if the mask is in stock. I'm not interested in waisting time waiting for an answer from a dive store. Luckily we will have the Boot Trade Fair in Düsseldorf next week and I'll go there and try to buy one from Mares directly.
Has anyone had the same experiences with Subprof?
And above all...has anyone tried out the new Mares Viper mask?

Hi, maby try to call them to callcenter number that they display on their WEB store page? I also courios are they ok. They got new model of Aeris freediving computer - Aeris F-10 v.3.
Marea Viper mask is unique right? looks like Omer Zero

I tried the Mares Viper mask at DEMA. I liked it a lot, and intend to buy one myself when I can find one.

I liked it way better than the Omer Zero. The Viper seemed to be far more conformal fitting, and for me it was very comfortable. The zero doesn't fit me.

With subprof I recommend to only buy an item once they have it in stock. They rely on the manufactures who provide them with a delivery date of a specific product, if the manufacturers misses the date then of-course subprof will also not meet their expected in-stock date. Unfortunately their customer feedback service is at best very sporadic and this causes frustration when trying to get info about a product, even more so when you have already ordered and paid for it.

As of the Mares Viper, unfortunately have not tried it. It does look interesting though.

I currently dive exclusivity with the Omer Zero and find it an amazing mask, fits my face perfectly.

Yeah, I haven't heard back from Subprof yet, so I'll give them a miss for now. I'll keep an eye on them as their prices are very good.
I went to the Boat Fair in Düsseldorf and to the Mares booth. They had one single Viper mask and that was attached to a fixed display. They vehemently refused to take it off the display so I could try it on. They almost hid it. I had to insist on seeing it and no-one could (or wanted) to tell me anything about it. I thought that was their new flagship freediving mask? Strange, because you can buy it in Australia already. I don't know what's going on there. I was allowed to touch it briefly though (wow). It's very soft due to there being no frame. It's basically just liquid silicon with glass lenses in it. Very nice. I'm sure it's very comfy.
Instead I bought a Subgear Steel Comp mask for 35 Euros! There's another thread here about that mask, where I've said a few things about it. Was in the pool (5m) with it this morning. Excellent. Can't wait to try it out in the Red Sea in a few days time.
