Hi guys,

I have decided that I need one last dive before the ice sets in, so i have decided that on the 27th or 28th of Dec (2011) i will be hitting up some spots in Meadow Lake prov park. There should be snow, but little to no ice. Currents should also be slower. Anybody looking for hypothermia and shriveled testicles can join. just message me and we'll get together. :martial

Um, are you new to Saskatchewan? :) I haven't been up into the Meadow Lake Provincial Park, perhaps you know of somewhere where I don't, but everyone is well into ice fishing by that time of year.

At much less latitude, you can pretty much drive any truck you want on the ice as it's usually at least a foot thick by then.

There is really ONE place that I know of in the province that you can dive year round, that is clear enough to see...Much further south though at Diefenbaker, just downstream of the Coteau Creek power station.

I'm not new to sask, but because this year has been so warm, there is little to no ice in meadow lake prov park around pierce lake, where I usually go. It's a run off of Cold Lake, AB. CL has no ice anywhere to be seen.

That's cool, looks like you've found the spearo's winter paradise. Must be quite the anomaly up there because reports from ice fishermen say Turtle Lake (approx. 120 km SE of Pierce Lake) has 14 inches ice. Roughly the same size of lake.

That would be cool. I'm always looking for buddies. I'll let you know I'm about 4hrs.

Suicidal winter trip?

Good luck! And rest in peace. Don't forget to fill out your last will and testament. :)

So I went and there is no ice. There is some on the edges, but we're in luck. I dive tomorrow! The water isn't deeper than 6ft In most places and you can see fish off the bridge. Not huge, but not babies either. Any takers?

Holy crap - what lake is this? Pierce Lake? What kind of fish? Just pike or walleye too?

Walleye I saw in a school of 6. How do you upload pics from phone to this bloody site?

Hit the "Reply" button...Scroll down a little to find the "Additional Options" section...Then under that is a button "Manage Attachments"...I think that will allow you to take picture files and insert them into this thread.
