Headed out this Sunday at daybreak outa Bayfront. Weather had cleared up and calm winds and seas were expected, yes expected. As we headed out of the marina we were met with 15 mph winds in the bay with a choppychop, outa angel we had 4-5 footers with 20+ winds and some severe cloud cover and conditions worsened thru out the day. All our drops were with less than 20' vis and at 60+' it made it pretty taxing to hunt, the pink plates just added to the fun:vangry.

Nonetheless, we managed to shoot some fish amongst them a cobia I spine shot off of 3 under an eagle ray (with my new carbon/teak enclosed track 120cm...first shot I ever took with it, guns got mojo:martial), Sporascrub nailed a huge mack outa 12'+ with his RA 140 we all shot an assortement of the usual reef denizens...but gotta say we worked for each one, and for some reason fish were not letting themselves be seen....moral of the report- "Pick your Days"

Role Call
1 cobia
2 macs
5 go's
4 hogs
1 trigger
1 margarte

sorry no picks seems the snappies got battery problems, next time

sounds like a tough one tone. I was spearing in 60ft this weekend too, with 10ft viz (oh and rough seas and 12 deg C water) no fun, no fish. But I guess "a bad days diving is better than the best day a work"

what are "pink plates" (I will probably regret asking)

Nice job for a rough day, congrats on your first fish with the new gun! You guys seem to always do well even on a pretty crummy day... you mustbe some kinda :martial jaja!

how big was the cobia? i NEVER see those. you guys see alot up there in miami?

hmmm I use to think the same thing, but lately I've been really contemplating getting more choosy on my days, just that when its a good day to head out its so pleasurable and productive while on days like this its fun, work. Nonetheless its excellent training so when a good day comes along, fish feel the BAM! Pink plates are some big arze pink jelly fish that often invade an area in the 100's usually around this time of year there sting isn't that bad though...btw I responded to your pm via email Simon.

thx cuchillo, where you been lately?....you, you, sharp dude, yourofl

not big enough, funny that I was able to clip it as the day prior Sporascrub had mentioned how nice it would be to shoot one with his new 140, random indeed as they are less common the further south you go (we were outa elliot), but every so often you'll hear about one shot/caught in the keys, hope alls chill Jason howz the boy doing?

There's plenty of cobia's over by the gulf wrecks off of Key West. Cobia's are also kinda seasonal so now the time to get'em. I heard reports from last week from dive charters saying they were seeing tons of crabs on there deco. Since crab is a large part of cobia's diet, i figured we'd see one on this trip.
