I had a Promaster and an Immersion Prowler.
I now have a
Suunto D4 (for 9 months now).
So, about this one and in
freediving mode you get: on screen->
- your actual depth (sampled 3 times per sec)
- the surface time (the minute you reach -0,4m it starts counting)
- Max. depth reached or the time(daytime) switchable back and forth with a single click
- the last dive time or the temperature also switchable back and forth with a single click
You can also set alarms. This comes very handy if you are spearfishing.
You can set a notify alarm for when you pass a certain depth like -14m (your comfort zone- just as an example) and a depth alarm, for when you reach a certain depth like -25m(your critical zone- for instance).
A time alarm, you know you hold up to 1:30m easily, set it to 1minute.(so you don't forget to come up lol)
Well you can download the specs and see for yourself what I've just posted. But here's what I like about it.
Big size display surface time.
Daytime - if you are a spearfisher you need to now what time is it (because of the tides etc)
The logbook, has a
huge memory, it stores all the dives you make, and you can check every single dive later on screen or on a pc if you buy the cable. With a very detailed graphic for each one plus statistics etc.
History, tells your deepest dive ever/time it took and longest dive/at what depth it was. Total of diving time, for instance I have 7h19m of apnea acumulated time with 711 dives total.
When freediving you can easlily scroll through your last dives, so you can check your progress, this is very usefull when you are warming up. You can also check the graph on the watch wich can help you determine if you are descending too slow or not, and adjust accordingly.
Surface alarms, you don't need to look at the watch all the time, just relax and recover till it beeps.
Comes with an aditional strap, I use it to put it up in my arm, just after the bicep, turned on the inside, no scratching etc. If you are a spearfisher and do a lot of grab-on-to kind of thing you will apreciate this.
And all the other useful things, depths, temperature, timings etc.
And there's also the scuba modes, if you some day want to jump into that.
Cheers.
